The wood is softer and easier to work with when it's green, overtime splits and cracks will slowly appear as the timber dries, giving character and charm.

The roof can be finished in shingles, slate or grass.
The exterior can be finished in shingles or cladding in a choice of woods, stains, varnishes, waxes or left natural as nature intended.
Q : Do I need planning permission ?

No; but it's always advisable to check with your local council.
